Hiking & Walking

Hiking in Scotland offers captivating views and memories to last a lifetime. Our accommodation serves as a base for one of the most beautiful walking holidays in Scotland. Explore Scotland’s mountains and Munros, and spot a wealth of flora and fauna as you take part in some of the best hikes in the Highlands. Ask us for walking route recommendations.

Beach days

The world is waking up to the benefits of fresh and sea water swimming. Swimming surrounded by the nature in Scotland is a unique experience, with beautiful woodlands and Munros lining our sea shores and lochs. If you’re planning a holiday in the UK, our lodges serve as an ideal base. The beaches at Gairloch and Red Point are within easy reach and two of our favourites. Please make sure you follow Water Safety Scotland’s guidance whenever you go swimming

Wildlife Spotting

Highland Scotland is renowned for its thriving wildlife. As you wander the landscape, keep an eye out for red deer, sika and roe deer, otters, red squirrels, pine martens, golden and sea eagles, and many moorland birds.

Northern Lights

The Northern Lights are visible from much of the Highlands of Scotland. In the depths of winter, when the nights are darkest, look upwards, and you might encounter the mesmerising aurora borealis.

For a chance to spot the Northern Lights in Scotland, we recommend visiting between December and February. A lack of light pollution makes our rural lodges excellent destinations for stargazers. Head to the nearby viewpoint in Glen Docherty for your best chance of a sighting.

NC500

Our accommodation is easily accessible along the North Coast 500 route. Travel by car or train and experience the best of Scotland’s natural scenery along Scotland’s Route 66. Our NC500 accommodation can serve as a base for exploring part of the route or as a comfortable resting point along your journey.

Flora

You don’t need to be a horticulturist to appreciate the wild flora that grows in abundance near our lodges. Look out for wild orchids, cotton grass, sphagnum moss and bog asphodels – a yellow wetland flower that’s much prettier than its name suggests. Budding botanists can also visit Inverewe gardens to enjoy carefully cultivated exotic plants.
